How to Stop Overthinking Your Wedding Invitations
Mood boards are basically just adult collages. And I, for one, will never grow out of them. I mean, what else am I supposed to do with my 47,000 saved Pinterest posts?
And when it comes to your wedding stationery, a mood board is your secret weapon against the dreaded “I want something vintage but modern, soft but bold, elegant but quirky, classic but fun” spiral.
Trust me, I get it. Your brain is a beautiful, swirling galaxy of ideas, and I’m just here to gently guide it into a constellation that makes sense.
Step 1: Collect All the Pretty Things
There is nothing… nothing… more satisfying than gathering all your favourite things until they somehow scream, this is my entire personality now. If it makes your heart do a little happy dance, add it to the pile.
Colours: That one shade of dusty rose you saw on a café wall three years ago? Yes. The deep green of your houseplants? Absolutely. The perfect warm beige of your morning latte? A must.
Textures: Torn-edge paper, wax seals, silk ribbons, lace… If it makes you want to run your fingers over it like a curious raccoon, it’s a keeper.
Typography: Classic calligraphy? Playful handwritten fonts? Something that screams, “I read fantasy romance novels and drink oat milk lattes”? Love that for you!
Random Things That Just Feel Right: An old book cover, a Parisian café menu, a photo of a ridiculously fancy door. If it sparks joy, it’s in.
Pro tip: Don’t overthink it. The best mood boards are made with gut feelings, instinct, and just a little bit of I have no idea why I love this, but I do.
Step 2: Edit Like a Wedding Planning Guru
Now, time to put on your wedding editor-in-chief hat. While we love a good creative mess, not every screenshot, saved post, or fleeting obsession makes the final cut (yes, even if it really speaks to your soul).
Would my dream wedding invitation want to hang out with this aesthetic?
Does this feel like me, or just something that looks nice?
Am I being cutthroat enough? (If not, that’s where I come in.)
This is the part where we streamline, refine, and make sure your final selection actually tells your story. Because while you might love that sleek, modern, minimalist look, if your entire wedding aesthetic is leaning toward whimsical, vintage, and overflowing florals… those two things might not get along. And we want them to get along.
Editing is where “I like all of these things” turns into “this is exactly what I want.” And don’t worry, I’ll help you through it.
Step 3: Watch Me Work My Magic
Once your mood board is looking chef’s kiss, this is where I step in with my brushes and a slightly alarming number of paint swatches.
I take all those dreamy details and turn them into custom stationery that looks like it waltzed straight out of your wedding dreams; hand-illustrated, timeless, heirloom-worthy magic.
We’re talking the kind of invitations people actually keep instead of pinning to the fridge with a dodgy takeaway magnet. The kind that gets tucked away in memory boxes, framed on walls, or lovingly pulled out years later to sigh over with a cup of tea.
Your wedding deserves stationery that feels like you. Romantic, whimsical, vintage, modern, soft, bold—whatever that perfect balance is, we’ll find it together.
And then? I’ll make it into something truly special.
